Course Description

Empower Your Voice, Master Your Story! Welcome to the electrifying world of Voiceover, where we embark on a thrilling journey to unleash the true power of your voice through the magic of the microphone! In this dynamic class, we blend the artistry of acting with the specialized skills needed for voiceover work, keeping pace with the ever-evolving entertainment industry. It's not just about mastering technique; it's about cultivating a professional demeanor and technical finesse that can elevate you to new heights in your craft. Through lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises, you discover and refine your unique voiceover style. But here's the twist: the real magic happens when we dive head-first into in-class participation where you'll have the chance to put theory into practice and hone your skills in real time. By our journey's end, you'll not only have the chance to improve your self-directing skills, you'll also possess the keen ability to evaluate your performances with unwavering honesty — a crucial skill for submitting effective auditions. From commercials to narration, characters to audio dramas, you'll be equipped to tackle any voiceover challenge with confidence and flair. REQUIREMENTS: Students must have access to a computer and microphone either at the school or home or an easily accessible place. Max Participants: 10 Minimal Participants: 5 8 Weeks Thursdays & Fridays, 4pm–6pm (16 Sessions/32 Hours Total) INSTRUCTOR BIO: Bill Mendieta brings skill and experience to both sides of the mic. He’s performed in commercials, animated projects, audiobooks, and audio plays while currently narrating shows at the Samuel Oschin Planetarium at Griffith Observatory. In 2022, Bill produced the award-winning feature, Wake Up, a heartbreaking look at the effect on human-trafficking in the foster care system. He has been a producer and in-house casting director for the production companies WSR Creative, Fiction Films, and Cover Story. As an actor, he is best known for playing Ricky Ricardo in I Love Lucy Live on Stage in Los Angeles, Chicago, and the 1st national tour. He performed at the National Comedy Festival in Jamestown, NY in 2017. Most recently, Bill was a part of LA Theatreworks’ national tour of Lucy Loves Desi: A Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom, where he played... you guessed it... Desi.
