LOS ANGELES, CA, October 12, 2020 — Theatre of Arts Hollywood today announced its online learning partnership with “EI Backstage”, a dynamic entertainment makeup program based on classes from the storied EI School of Professional Makeup. Launching October 19th, EI Backstage will offer accredited makeup training in parallel with Theatre of Arts’ fall 2020 curriculum, premiering with “Makeup For Actors During COVID-19”.
An intimate, industry-first course capped at just ten students per class, “Makeup For Actors During COVID-19” is designed for performers navigating the new landscape of pandemic-era auditions, self tapes and shoots. An intensive three-day, 18-hour deep dive, it covers essentials of makeup selection and application, the fundamentals of makeup for camera work, and the all-important correct usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on-set as production resumes. Enrolled students will also receive a full makeup kit containing a selection of the finest professional-grade cosmetics and supplies from Bioderma, Makeup Forever, RMCA and more.

Erika Rojas, Director of Education for EI Backstage, comments, “There’s no other course out there offering this balance of makeup artistry and actor-specific training — and we are so excited to be offering it with our friends at Theatre of Arts, Hollywood’s original acting school.”
David Conolly, Director of Education for Theatre of Arts responds, “Theatre of Arts is delighted to collaborate on the new ‘EI Backstage’ online courses. At the dawn of the pandemic in March of 2020, TOA immediately embraced the promise of distance learning, and has since completed our full summer term completely online for the first time ever. We couldn’t be happier to be welcoming EI’s world-class makeup instructors into the TOA family.”
Theatre of Arts is owned and operated by Campus Hollywood, a unique alliance of entertainment industry-related schools and companies linking students, educators and professionals into a thriving arts community based in the heart of Hollywood, California.
