Theatre of Arts is thrilled to announce Joshua Amar as the next guest of the Spring 2021 Industry Spotlights series, featuring top Entertainment Industry professionals who graciously share their journey and invaluable knowledge and perspectives with TOA students, alumni and special guests.
Joshua Amar
Joshua Amar is an exuberant, gritty, genre director/writer who creates diverse films that are both viscerally violent and elegiac. His films focus on themes of toxic masculinity, family, and redefining what it means to be a "bad" person. He's a graduate from the prestigious AFI Conservatory Directing Fellowship. He's a first generation Canadian born to Moroccan immigrants. He has worked on projects for Darren Aronofsky and Scott Franklin. His films have screened at film festivals including Austin, Bermuda, Cannes, Oaxaca and Savannah, among many other film festivals. His commercial credits include (but not limited to): Collaborating with Darren Aronofksy and the FDA, writing for Avril Lavigne, crafting a fashion campaign with NBA Labs and directing numerous music video projects. He's currently in pre-production for his first feature film about an emo-rapper titled, DON'T EVER LEAVE ME.
