When: 4 Days over 2 Weekends (Sat. May. 14, Sun. May 15, Sat. May 21, Sun. May 22), 10:00am - 2:00pm PT Where: Theatre of Arts, 6472 Santa Monica Blvd, Hollywood CA How Much: $199 Deposit + $1000 before First Day ($1199 total - Less than $300/day!!!) In this 4-day, 16 hour advanced workshop, students are introduced to the world of Motion Capture or "MoCap". We will explore the essential techniques used for acting in video games and advanced CG sequences for film and TV. Actors will draw upon their training and performance skills to create actual professional-grade motion capture content. Participants learn the basics of motion capture, then proceed through the process of developing a digital character, wearing cutting-edge motion capture suits connected to Unreal Engine in order to bring their performances to life. The goal is make the actor fully prepared to hit the ground running the moment they set foot into a professional motion capture studio. At the conclusion of the workshop, students take delivery of a completed CG scene + reference video suitable for a demo reel. Requirements: Participants must provide two clear headshot photographs (front and side) in advance which will be used to create their Metahuman avatar. Students should wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing and footwear, and bring a journal for notes, water, and lunch/food/snacks. INSTRUCTOR: Henry Layton An industry veteran with 20 years of entertainment industry experience as a stuntman, weapons specialist and stage combat instructor, Henry Layton is one of the foremost performers in the motion capture industry, working as the stunt coordinator and lead “mo-cap” stunt performer for Sony Motion Picture Film Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and Universal Studios. Mr. Layton performs extensively in blockbuster video games including THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, SAINTS ROW 1-4, THE PUNISHER, ENCLAVE, and KNIGHTS OF THE TEMPLE.
