The TOA Conservatory Program has been developed over decades of professional experience and successful teaching methods. We provide an exciting and stimulating training within a practical multi-media discipline and guide the student in fulfilling their potential as a professional actor in this highly competitive industry.
Year One: Encouraging self discovery as the basis of talent from which all good acting evolves. Learning to work from individual truth and integrity, the physical skills of an actor are explored. Developing flexibility to adapt voice and movement to meet the demands of script and character. Examining the fundamentals of script analysis in order to understand the actor/writer relationship.
Year Two: Continues to develop your physical and emotional range. Through scene study, character analysis and mask work, we encourage you to lose fear, self consciousness and inhibition. You learn to release the physiological barriers which prevent you exploring the full emotional life of the character. You will also start to learn the practical aspects of the profession in order to apply your craft. Application of your talent is an integral part of your potential success.
Year Three: While continuing to develop your skill and craft as an actor, you will gain exposure to the outside world through a series of public performances and an individually tailored showcase. The production of a personal demo reel will further enhance your potential to create a successful acting career. You will be supported throughout the transition between class and career by workshops with specialized industry practitioners including agents, managers, directors and casting directors; and learn the benefits provided by membership of Equity, the Screen Actors Guild and other professional organizations.
